Before March 2020, our time together used to be a given, but now it turns out to be a rare resource that requires us to make the extra effort to make it happen. So, we started this series of meetups we called Community Talks, where an outstanding guest from outside RomSoft guides us through a specific topic that we have a shared interest in.
In this context, we enjoyed precious and unconditional support from many of our friends, and we are so grateful for that. One of these remarkable fellows is Florin Cardasim. After tackling topics like Lean Architecture and Presentation Skills, we met Florin for the third time with the idea to talk about BUILDING TRUST.
Building Trust, the valuable currency that makes teams thrive
It’s always refreshing to meet Florin, as his workshops are a unique mix of insights, practical tools, and fun. But besides the infotainment part, this session was a bit different than we expected. In the way that it wasn’t a lecture, we really had to put in the work and discover what builds trust at personal, team and stakeholder level.
Here are 5 things I walked away with, from this last Community Talks gathering:
- It is not enough to know in theory what works, it takes individual, conscious, and sustained effort, to see results.
- BUILDING TRUST takes time. You can’t force it, but you can work on it every day.
- Face to face interactions are not a must, but they sure help, when you BUILD TRUST.
- While BUILDING TRUST, we very much enjoyed the opportunity to work side by side again.
- Maybe we won’t be changing our everyday salute from “HELLO” to “WE BUILD TRUST”, but, for sure, the discussions and hands-on exercises helped us walk away with a toolkit of insights and practices to elevate trust and collaboration in our projects.

What is Community Talks
After (almost) three years of remote work, we feel the need to, once in a while, get together and learn about inspiring stories from our line of work or from our community that are relevant to us.
With this idea in mind, we created a program called Community Talks. It is part of our larger discussion about tech storytelling and how to have better conversations in our everyday work.
Once a month, we want to invite somebody from outside RomSoft to share with us an inspiring story, or just to have an interesting conversation, be it in the technical area or anything else that we have a shared interest in.
Our guests will play the role of the Guide to any good story, helping us navigate through difficult challenges, acquire new skills, and understand where the opportunities lie in this rapidly changing world.
